Monday morning on Truth Social, President-elect Donald Trump endorsed Mike Johnson, R-La., to remain on as speaker of the House. In a post discussing Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign funds and the Democratic Party at large, Trump wrote, “The American people need IMMEDIATE relief from all of the destructive policies of the last Administration.”

The question of whether the president-elect would back the speaker for another term has hung over Republicans, especially after recent tensions. But the endorsement does not lock up the job for Mr. Johnson.
