Bloomberg reviewed the internal memo explaining the cuts, which was posted to Meta's internal Workplace forum Tuesday. In it, Zuckerberg confirmed that Meta was shifting its strategy to "move out low performers faster" so that Meta can hire new talent to fill those vacancies this year.

Meta is planning to cut 5% of its workforce, according to an internal memo shared by CEO Mark Zuckerberg to employees and acquired by Bloomberg. Figures put Meta’s current workforce at around 72,500, meaning the layoffs would affect at least 3,600 of the company's “low-performers.”

Meta is reportedly set to cut around five percent of its workforce. CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that the company will lay off the lowest performers.

Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg said the cuts are necessary as the company builds ‘the most important technologies in the world.’

The Meta chief wrote in a post on Workplace, the company's internal forum, that the company would be doing "more extensive performance-based cuts."

Meta has made numerous company-wide shifts in preparation for President-elect Donald Trump’s impending return to the White House next week.
