A Seattle woman was watching a movie on a Delta Air Lines flight when she was severely burned by a cup of coffee served to her by a flight attendant

A lawsuit was filed against Delta Airlines by a woman who said she suffered severe burns from piping hot coffee during a flight.

During the Delta flight from Paris to Seattle, Cheryl Myers was watching a movie when a flight attendant put a cup of coffee on a slanted tray table, the suit says.

“She’s watching a movie, flight attendant puts a cup of burning hot coffee on her food tray and it ends up in her lap,” Mark Lindquist, the passenger’s attorney, claimed. In the lawsuit filed Thursday by Lindquist’ law firm, the woman, identified only as Cheryl, claims the coffee was boiling hot.

Court documents state that when the woman asked for medical attention, flight attendants were dismissive and told her to “just go change” before handing her a bag of ice.

The woman was diagnosed with first- and second-degree burns as a result of hot coffee being spilled on her aboard a Delta Airlines flight from Paris to Seattle.
