Uglies is one of the worst-reviewed Netflix original movies in recent memory, but it still managed to stay on top of the Top 10 list for a while. Now it’s been dethroned by a new offering, and the future of it as a potential series remains unknown.

Laverne Cox is an Emmy-nominated actress, so it should be no surprise that she brought her A-Game in Uglies. And as a gorgeous woman, she was the perfect casting to bring the beauty-obsessed Dr. Cable to life for Netflix. And she gave arguably the best performance of the movie.

A Pretties movie, aka an Uglies 2 movie, has not yet been green-lit by Netflix at this time. However, in a recent interview with Scott Westerfeld, the author said that both he and Uglies movie director McG are on board to make a second movie.

"Uglies," a film adaptation of the 2005 dystopian book of the same name, is among Netflix's worst-reviewed movies of the year.

Uglies director McG has responded to fans' biggest issue with the dystopian film starring Joey King.

In 2005 author Scott Westerfeld published Uglies, the first book in a best-selling series about a dystopian world where everyone is considered “ugly” until they get beautifying plastic surgery at the age of 16. He’d been inspired by a friend who moved to Los Angeles, and was told by his new dentist he needed a “five-year plan” to fix his teeth.

"Uglies," the new production from Netflix, is not pleasing viewers at all, who are calling the film "the most idiotic of all time."
