Roku just announced a 2024 Roku Ultra, upgrading its premium streaming box for increased speed and wireless streaming performance, plus a new remote.

Roku has launched its most powerful streaming device yet, the Roku Ultra 2024, directly competing with the Google TV Streamer.

The latest top-level Roku has a fancy, backlit remote and a speed bump, but it's still not the best value in the company's lineup.

Ultra is 30 percent faster than any of Roku’s other players, and it now features Wi-Fi 6. That upgrade puts it ahead of the Google TV Streamer, which stuck with Wi-Fi 5. Roku is now on par with the Apple TV,

The new Ultra is powered by a quad-core processor that Roku says was built from the ground up for "cinematic streaming," and which promises to be 30% faster than other players in the Roku lineup.

The improvements to the Roku Ultra take what was already one of the best quality streaming players on the market to a new level. The Roku brand has already completed its takeover of American living rooms.

The new Roku Ultra features HDMI 2.1 output and supports 4K video at up to 60 frames per second, as well as HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos. There’s also support for Quick Media Switching (QMS) for changing between refresh rates on TVs that support the feature.

Roku Ultra is the latest update to the streaming player, announced today at the company's developer conference.

Simply titled Roku Ultra (2024), the new edition sports a quad-core CPU that Roku claims is 30% faster than both its original predecessor and all of the best Roku devices that came before it. It also comes with the new second-gen Voice Remote Pro .
