Snow warning as Scotland hit by freezing weather
Scotland is continuing to be hit by freezing weather, with rain, sleet and snow expected to fall across large parts of the country. Temperatures at Loch Glascarnoch in the Highlands fell to -11C on Saturday night after forecasters extended a yellow warning from 09:00 on Sunday until 12:00 on Monday.

Residents in Leicestershire have reported their phones emitting a siren to warn of severe flooding, with a major incident being declared by Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service late last night. The fire service this morning says it has dealt with more than 380 calls in the last 24 hours, attended 56 incidents and evacuated people from 209 homes.

A three-day snow warning has been issued by the Met Office for much of Britain, with temperatures set to plunge for the first weekend of 2025. Around 5cm of snow is expected to fall widely across swathes of the Midlands, Wales and northern England, with as much as 20-30cm over high ground in Wales or the Pennines.

A yellow warning for snow in Shetland is in place until 18:00 while a yellow alert for icy conditions in the Highlands is due to come in to force from 16:00 on Saturday until 10:00 on Sunday.
