OCALA, Fla. — Florida firefighters were able to rescue two dogs from a burning home Sunday afternoon in Ocala. In a Facebook post, Marion County Fire Rescue said crews were dispatched around 3:23 p.m. to a house on Pecan Drive after receiving calls of a structure fire in the area.

Firefighters came to the rescue to save two dogs caught in a burning Florida home on Sunday. The Marion County Fire Rescue said the two dogs, Oreo and Bella, were rescued and treated with oxygen. Officials said the cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation.

The National Weather Service said on Jan. 3, 2018, parts of north Florida, along with south Georgia, saw snow accumulate thanks to the first winter storm the Sunshine State had seen since 1989. Georgia of course saw the largest accumulations, up to 2 inches, but the snowfall in Florida was still measurable.

A major winter storm is moving into northern Florida on Tuesday, bringing what will potentially be record-breaking snowfall totals.
