The city of Detroit reports that homicides dropped 19% from 2024 to the previous year and it's part of a larger trend of lower crime across the board. Some residents say they can feel the difference.

Violent crime in Detroit has gone down, according to city officials. On Friday, Mayor Mike Duggan along with federal and local law enforcement members got together and discussed the recent statistics that gave Detroit a safer record than years prior.
