Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd (SECI) has sent a notice to Reliance Power after a subsidiary of the power firm submitted fake documents for a tender bid.

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has issued a showcause notice to Anil Ambani-owned Reliance Power, asking why it should not take criminal action against the company for submitting “fake bank documents” through a bank that has no branch from where the documents supposedly originated.

Last week, SECI imposed a three-year ban on Reliance Power from participating in its clean energy project tenders after discovering that one of its units had submitted a counterfeit foreign bank guarantee.

Reliance Power, run by Anil Ambani, faces criminal investigation after a subsidiary submitted fake bank guarantees for a clean energy bid. SECI has also imposed a three-year ban on the firm.
