Authorities say two monkeys have been returned to a South Carolina compound that breeds the animals for medical research.

Authorities announced Monday that five additional monkeys had been recovered after nearly four dozen escaped from a South Carolina research facility. Alpha Genesis CEO Greg Westergaard told Yemassee police that 30 of the 43 escaped rhesus macaques have returned to the Yemassee facility.

Sam Morace flocked to social media to plead with Loris residents who reported sightings of the elusive, feathered creatures to abstain from executing the flightless birds after they escaped from her father’s enclosure over the summer.
