In a recent interview, Imtiaz Ali lauded Ranbir Kapoor for having a perfect mix of art and craft. The filmmaker also stated that the Animal star innately knows technique and is instinctive.

Ali remarked on Kapoor's ability to seamlessly integrate both elements into his performances, stating, “Ranbir Kapoor me both acha mixture hai in dono cheezon ka, technique bhi usko boht innately aati hai.

Imtiaz Ali and Ranbir Kapoor have worked together in Rockstar (2011) and Tamasha (2015). Though both the movies had a mediocre box office run upon release due to their unique plots, they have have found a strong footing and emerged classics in the body of work of both Imtiaz and Ranbir.
