In response to reports of people trapped in a fire, Houston Fire Department crews were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 4800 block of Jarmese Street around 5:35 a.m. Tuesday, Brent Taylor, a spokesperson for the fire department said.

Capt. Edward Escamilla and firefighters Darren Jones and Jonathan Guzman had second and third-degree burns to their hands, legs and neck. All three were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital for treatment. They were awake and alert.
